First and foremost, we strive to instill a love of reading within each of our students! Our rigorous phonics based curriculum helps students to become strong readers and writers.

Teachers meet with students daily in small groups for guided reading instruction. Older students may also participate in reading circles and book clubs. Building fluency and comprehension skills are of great importance throughout our elementary program.

In writing, students begin mastering letter formation starting in junior kindergarten and move from print to cursive in second grade. Writer’s Workshops help students to express themselves in written form and encourages their creativity as they work through the steps of the writing process.
